In March, my beloved mother passed away. She introduced me to sewing, tatting, quilting, counted cross-stitch, crocheting, and tole painting, and so much more. For most of the month of April, my sister and I have been going through her sewing room and her quilting room (she had two!). It has been less difficult than I thought because of so many happy memories this brings. But it’s also been much more difficult physically and time-wise than I expected. We’ve spent more than 30 hours on this so far, and now my own home is in need of some serious organization and rearranging.
As a result, creating a new pattern this month just hasn’t been a possibility. The pattern for this month is not my own, but was designed by DeDe B. She sent it to me a few months ago and gave me permission to send it to you. I’ve been saving it for a busy month when I would have trouble getting a new pattern designed. I can’t thank DeDe enough!
I’m not positive what thread this pattern uses, but it appears to be Lizbeth Size 20 thread. The hat is approximately 3 inches (8 cm) across.

You will need:
Size 20 thread in your choice of color.
1 tatting shuttle or tatting needle
1/8″ (.3 cm) wide ribbon
1-inch (3 cm) styrofoam ball
Sewing needle and thread
Glue

Cut and tie.
Round 3
Pull thread through 2nd p of any Ch on round 2. Tie to shuttle and add about a yard of thread to the shuttle.
Ch: (2ds p) 5 times, 2ds loosely around, joining every 3rd or 4th p on the edge. Tie.
Weave thread through free picots on inner edge of round 2. Carefully cut the styrofoam ball in half and place one half in the cap. Draw woven thread tight and tie. Tie ribbon with a bow around the cap and glue on the magnet.
