Tatted Oval Doily Final

Tatted Oval Doily Final

Here’s the final row of the doily I’ve been working on since July! I had a real “designer’s block” when it came to this row, so it took me a long time to get my head around it.

This pattern uses two tatting shuttles, although the second and last rows require only one. You can also use the shoelace trick, but I think in this instance, the work will look better if it’s not used.

You can find row 1 here
You can find row 2 here
You can find row 3 here

This is an experienced beginner pattern (because it uses two shuttles). It is about 9 inches wide (23 cm) and 6-1/2 inches tall (16.5 cm) when done with size 10 thread.

I used Lizbeth Cranberry Bush Color 181.

Instructions:

Start at the red ring on the visual pattern.

Find one of the sets of three rings pointing outward on the previous row. The ring you will make your first join to is the ring closest to the set of seven rings at the “tip” of the doily. See the blue ring in the visual pattern.
