Tatted Oval Doily Row 3

Tatted Oval Doily Row 3

Here’s row 3 of the doily I’ve been working on since July!

This pattern uses two tatting shuttles, although the second row requires only one. You can also use the shoelace trick, but I think in this instance, the work will look better if it’s not used.

You can find row 1 here
You can find row 2 here

This is an experienced beginner pattern (because it uses two shuttles). It is about 7-1/2 inches wide (19 cm) and 5 inches tall (12 cm) when done with size 10 thread.

I used Lizbeth Cranberry Bush Color 181.

You will need:

Thread in your choice of color and size.
2 tatting shuttles or tatting needles

dsdouble stitch
ppicot
jjoin

In my written pattern, I specify Shuttle 1 and Shuttle 2. Before you start, number each shuttle. Then when the design specifies Shuttle 1, for example, that shuttle will be the one you tat with.

Instructions:

Start at the red ring on the visual pattern.
Shuttle 1:
R: (2ds p) 3 times, 2ds, j to center p of center chain on long side of previous row, (2ds p) 3 times, 2ds, close, turn
