Tatted Box Pattern

I took a much-needed break from designing over the holidays except for this little box.  I did post about it back in December, but I only had the lid done.  And now I finally have the whole thing done!  This was an interesting project for me to design. There’s so much more to think about when the item is 3-dimensional.

I started with my pattern, Tatted Sunshine Motif, for the first part of the lid and added a row of rings and chains for the side of it.  The bottom I tatted more densely than the lid so things wouldn’t fall through the box, and slightly smaller to make it fit under the lid.  Then I added two more rows of tatting for the side.  I tried to keep it fairly simple, mostly so I could get my head around it.

It’s big enough to be a ring box or for a little candy.
