Have you ever picked colors and thought they’d be fun, but when your project was done, you thought, “What was I thinking?!” Well, I did that with this design. Whew! Purple and fuchsia is a bit much for me! But the design is fun, and color is something easily changed.
These earrings use a double picot. It’s impressive to see, but easy to make. Georgia Seitz has some great instructions here on how to make one.
This design is experienced beginner level and uses one shuttle. I used size 20 Flora thread in Dark Purple.

Thread in your choice of color and size.
1 tatting shuttle
208 size 11 seed beads
2 earring jewelry findings

Instructions:
String 78 beads onto the shuttle thread.
Start the first ring about 8 inches (24 cm) from the end of the thread. You will use this length of thread for more beads and tying the earring to the finding.
Move 24 beads down the thread and wrap the thread on your hand with the beads out of the way. They should not be on the working portion of the thread.
R: (2ds p) 5 times, 2ds move the beads down against the last ds and complete a picot with the beads on it. (2ds p ) 3 times, 2ds, j to beaded picot between the 15th and the 16th beads. (9 on the inside and 15 on the outside of the picot.) (2ds p) 5 times, 2ds, close.
*Move 3 beads down against your work.
R: (2ds p) 2 times, bj to 13th picot of previous R, (2ds p) 2 times, 2ds move the beads down against the last ds and complete a picot with the beads on it. (2ds p ) 3 times, 2ds, j to beaded picot between the 15th and the 16th beads. (9 on the inside and 15 on the outside of the picot.) (2ds p) 5 times, 2ds, close.*
Repeat between * once more.
String 12 beads on the beginning and ending loose threads. Tie a knot then tie to a jewelry finding.
Repeat for the second earring.
