These little angels started out as a single angel, but I was never satisfied with her skirt. So I went a different direction and made an edging.
The design includes a double picot for her halo. If you’ve never done one before, don’t worry, it’s simple.
This is a beginner pattern.
I used Lizbeth White Color 601 Size 40. The edging is about 1 inches (2.5 cm) tall and each repeat is about 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide when stitched with size 40 thread.

1 tatting shuttle or tatting needle

Instructions:
Start at the red dot as shown in the visual diagram below.
R: (3ds p) 5 times, 3ds, close, turn
*Ch: 6ds p 13ds p 3ds, turn
R: (2ds p) 4 times, 2ds j to 4th p of previous R, 2ds p 2ds small p, 6ds j to small p (2ds p) 5 times, 3ds, do not turn
R: 3ds j to last p of previous R, 6ds use approximately 5/8 inch of thread (2 cm) to make a p, 3ds j to the long p, 6ds p 3ds, close, do not turn
R: 3ds j to last p of previous R, (2ds p) 4 times, 2ds small p 6ds j to previous p, (2ds p) 6 times, 2ds, close, turn
Ch: 3ds j to last p of previous Ch, 13ds p 6ds
R: 3ds p 3ds j to 8th p of previous R, (3ds p) 3 times, 3ds, close, turn*
Repeat between * until the edging is the length you want.
